Rev. David Peter Installed at Concordia Seminary

Rev. David Peter was installed as Director of the Doctor of Ministry program, Placement Counselor and Assistant Professor of Practical Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis on Dec. 1. The installation took place during the morning chapel service in the Seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Rev. Peter comes to Concordia Seminary from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peoria, Ill., where he was serving as Senior Pastor.

“It’s a genuine privilege to serve Christ and His church here at Concordia Seminary,” Rev. Peter commented following his installation. “I am excited about equipping both potential pastors and practicing ministers in this unique role. I firmly believe that the Doctor of Ministry program is a significant means of promoting theological and professional growth among pastors. This growth, in turn, will enrich the church.”

Rev. Peter received his B.A. degree with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska in 1982 and was a national Rhodes Scholar finalist. Following a year of graduate study at the University of Chicago, he received his M.Div. from Concordia Seminary in 1987. Following Seminary graduation, he served as Visiting Instructor of Theology at Concordia College, Seward, 1987-88. He joined the pastoral staff of Trinity, Peoria, in 1988 as Associate Pastor and became Senior Pastor in 1995. He has completed all requirements for the Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and will receive the degree at its winter commencement.
