Final Bach at the Sem Concert of 2009-2010 Season on May 2

The American Kantorei presents its final concert in the 2009-2010 season, Sunday, May 2, 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of St. Timothy and Titus, celebrating the 80th year in the life of Music Director Robert Bergt. Following the concert a reception is held in Conductor Bergt’s honor on the two levels of the plaza at the chapel entrance.

The Kantorei will present two motets for two choirs: Motet I, Sing to the Lord a New Song, and Motet II, The Holy Spirit Aids Us in Our Weakness. The ensemble will perform from the chancel steps.

The concert includes a guest appearance of the Arianna String Quartet in a performance of Mozart’s String Quartet in E-Flat Major. The appearance of the Arianna Quartet is to mark the many years that Robert Bergt was first violinist of the St. Louis Young Audience String Quartet.

Dennis Bergin will perform Bach’s Fantasia and Fugue in G, “The Great,” on the magnificent Casavant 76 rank organ.

The public is invited to attend. Bach at the Sem is made possible through the generous support of patrons and donors. An offering is taken at each concert in support of the creation and encouragement of fine live performance.
