Concordia Seminary Announces Fall Lay Bible Institute

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will host its fall 2010 Lay Bible Institute from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, October 6, 13, 20, 27, in Sieck Hall on the Seminary campus. “Living as Citizens of Heaven and Citizens of America: The Role of Christians in a Democratic Society” will be presented by Dr. Charles Arand, professor at Concordia Seminary.

Does God have a political party? Does following Jesus mean ignoring the government? What happens when the government ignores — or imposes on — the church laws that run contrary to Scripture? Should the church speak up on controversial issues or leave that to individual Christians?
