“'A Hammer for God' …. A Theological Symposia Series Marking the Centennial of the Birth of Bo Giertz"

 May 3, 2005 at Concordia Seminary

 

On May 3, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in conjunction with The Giertz Centennial Committee of Pittsburgh, Pa., will celebrate the life and ministry of Bo Giertz, Swedish pastor, bishop and bestselling author, with “‘A Hammer for God’: A Theological Symposia Series Marking the Centennial of the Birth of Bo Giertz.” Rev. Bo Giertz

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. Presentations will include “The Hammer of God in its Historical Context” by Dr. Robert Kolb, mission professor of systematic theology and director of the Institute for Mission Studies at Concordia Seminary; “The Exegesis of Bo Giertz and Anton Fridrichsen” by Rev. Charles Henrickson, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Park Hills, Mo., and Ph.D. candidate at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; “There Is No One Who Seeks God: ‘Nygren, Romans, and Mission’” by Rev. Wallace Schulz, evangelist for the Lutheran Heritage Foundation, Macomb, Mich., and executive editor of Good News; and “The Hammer of God: Law and Gospel Enfleshed as the Order of Grace” by Rev. Eric R. Andrae, associate pastor of First Trinity Lutheran Church and rector of the Augsburgh Academy, Pittsburgh, Pa. The lectures will be followed by fellowship time and a showing of the film “The Hammer of God – The Call.” 

A second part of the symposium series will take place at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., on Sept. 19.  

The cost to attend the symposium is $50 ($55 after April 1), $50 for Webcast participation and $10 for seminarians. Lunch and housing are not included. For more information, call (412) 683-4121.

Fees:    $50  for one symposium ($90 for both symposia – Ft. Wayne – September 19).  After deadline: $55 per symposium
