 Greetings in the Name of Jesus, from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis! My name is Rev. Wally Becker and I am Director of Student Services at Concordia Seminary. I am a native of Saskatchewan, Canada, although I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. I did my undergraduate work at Concordia, Seward, Neb., and after graduation in 1973, served as Director of Christian Education (DCE) in Ann Arbor, Mich., and in Placerville, Calif. After graduation from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1988, I served congregations in Litchfield, Ill., and Springfield, Mo., as assistant pastor, senior pastor, and associate pastor.
I am married to Alvina (nee Chronis), who also graduated from Concordia, Seward, in 1974 and teaches middle school in St. Louis. We have two sons. Jeremy, a graduate of Concordia, Chicago, is a DCE in St. Louis. He is married to Kristin (nee Stock) who taught at Lutheran high school, but now stays at home with our first grandchild, Mikayla. Andy is married to Nikki (nee Rusnak) and is a student in the pastoral ministry program here at Concordia Seminary!
As Director of Student Services at Concordia Seminary, I work with the students and their families in the non-academic side of campus life—the day to day concerns like housing, financial aid, the Food Bank and Re-Sell It Shop, health and wellness, athletics and fitness, women’s and family concerns, the Counseling Center, and Admissions.
