The Financial Aid Office in conjunction with Concordia Plan Services offer several sessions throughout the academic year entitled Healthy Finances for Healthy Ministry (HFHM). Several topics are covered including Debt Management and Money Relationships, Investments, Retirement and Legacy Planning, and Housing.
These HFHM sessions will explore:
- How our attitudes, perspectives, family history, and past experiences shape the way we talk about and make decisions regarding our personal finances.
- Managing credit wisely, tips for improving a credit rating, steps to reduce/eliminate accumulated debt. Learn to help yourself or a friend, neighbor, relative, or future congregation member.
- Different types of investments, time value of money, diversification, risk tolerance, setting goals, and evaluating investments and strategy.
- Preparing for the unavoidable: overview of types of insurance and legacy planning documents.
- Three sources of retirement income, determining retirement expenses and savings needs, and outlining a plan.
- Information on housing allowance for ministers of the Gospel and home ownership issues.
Students are highly encouraged to take advantage of these sessions as they are offered free of charge. Also, dinner and babysitting are included.
