Concordia Seminary will present “Screwtape,” a stage adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ beloved “The Screwtape Letters,” in Wyneken Auditorium on the Seminary campus, 801 DeMun Ave., Clayton, Mo., Friday, April 16, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 17, 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 18, 4:00 p.m.
The production is the theater group’s second adaptation of a C.S. Lewis work this season. Last fall the company presented “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” to an audience totaling more than 1,500.
C.S. Lewis was born 100 years ago last November 29. The Seminary has observed the centennial with these two productions and in a C.S. Lewis focus in its spring issue of the “Concordia Journal.”
Concordia Seminary Theatre began in the 1997-98 academic year with the goal of producing two plays per academic year. Each of the plays will contain Christian imagery and themes. Support for the program comes primarily from a generous gift endowing the Gregg H. Benidt Memorial Chair in Homiletics and Literature at Concordia Seminary. This endowed chair is occupied by Prof. Dean Nadasdy of the Seminary faculty.
