Alan E. Meyer Joins Concordia Seminary Staff

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, announces that Alan E. Meyer has accepted an appointment to serve as its vice president for institutional planning and research. As such, Meyer will be the chief planning officer at the Seminary, providing leadership and oversight for the Seminary’s strategic and long-range planning process. He also will oversee the collection, analysis and reporting of data from the academic and non-academic areas of the Seminary’s operation. Meyer’s position is an executive staff position and includes membership on the Seminary President’s Cabinet.

“Recognizing the continuing growth of Concordia Seminary in terms of enrollment, programs and special opportunities of service to the church, our Board of Regents established this new senior administrative position to provide leadership and expertise in strategic planning,” commented Dr. John F. Johnson, president of Concordia Seminary. “We are immensely grateful to God for leading Alan Meyer to accept this appointment. His experience in both the church and the corporate world and his dedication to advancing the cause of the Gospel are tremendous assets for our Seminary and its mission.”

Since 1993, Meyer has been serving as director of ministry support services at Lutheran Trust, an insurance provider based in St. Charles, Mo. Prior to this, Meyer served for nine years as the treasurer and chief financial officer of Concordia Publishing House. He is a graduate of Valparaiso University, where he received his baccalaureate degree in mathematics. He also received a master of business administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

“It is with joyful anticipation that I approach my new position at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis,” commented Meyer. “As the Lord has blessed me, I look forward applying my gifts in service to the Seminary and its constituencies.”

Meyer resides in suburban St. Louis with his wife, Karen, and they have two grown sons. He begins his new responsibilities on April 8.
