Concordia Seminary Hosts Carillon Recital Series

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, is pleased to announce its 2002 summer carillon recital series. In what has become a tradition for hundreds of area residents, guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics to the Seminary’s main quadrangle or to the Seminary grounds near Luther Tower to enjoy the concert in a peaceful and informal setting.

Concerts will be presented on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the following dates:

June 4: Claude Aubin, Canada
June 11: Karel Keldermans, Springfield, Illinois
June 18: Karel Keldermans, Springfield, Illinois
June 25: Auke de Boer, Netherlands

The Seminary’s 49-bell carillon was dedicated on November 25, 1970 to serve as a memorial to the pastors of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. It is housed in Luther Tower, which was completed in 1966. The tower was designed and constructed in harmony with the plans first proposed by the Seminary’s world-renowned architect, Charles Z. Klauder. It rises 120 feet above the Walther Archway, which serves as its base.

Concordia Seminary is located at 801 DeMun Avenue in suburban Clayton.
