Call Day Draws Near at Concordia Seminary

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, cordially invites the public to share in the joy of Call Day on April 8. Students who will serve as vicars (a one-year internship experience) next year will receive their vicarage assignments during a 4:00 p.m. worship service in the Seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and Titus. Rev. Orval D. Mueller, president of the Southern District of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS), will serve as preacher.

Also on April 8, candidates for the pastoral ministry will receive their first Calls to serve as pastors, missionaries or chaplains in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod during a 7:00 p.m. worship service, also held in the Seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Rev. Lane Seitz, president of Minnesota South District of the LCMS, will serve as preacher.

The master of divinity degree (M.Div.) program is the academic degree program in which most students who desire to be pastors, missionaries or chaplains in the LCMS enroll. It is a four-year program, including a one-year vicarage (internship). The men who receive Calls on Call Day will join more than 11,000 graduates from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

The vicarages and Calls will be posted on Concordia Seminary’s Web Site at www.csl.edu [1] on April 8 at 9:00 p.m. (CST). A complete listing will be featured in the summer 2003 issue of FOCUS, the Seminary’s magazine. Audio recordings of the services and sermons will be available for listening on the Seminary’s Web site within 24 hours.
