Concordia Seminary to Host Worship Service Celebrating Black Lutheranism

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and Messiah Lutheran Church, St. Louis, an inner-city congregation, will host a worship service celebrating Black Lutheranism on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 3:00 p.m. in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on the campus. The service, “Celebrating the Lutheran Black Experience,” is part of a series of events honoring Black History Month at the Seminary. The public is invited to attend.

The service will be led by Rev. Meredith Jackson, senior pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, St. Louis, and Dr. Frazier Odom, former Missouri District missionary-at-large and director of urban ministries in the St. Louis area. A question and answer period on the history of Black Lutheranism will follow the service. The offering taken will support the Dr. Robert H. King Endowment Fund for Minority Students.
