Concordia Seminary to Celebrate Black Lutheranism

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will host its fifth annual worship service celebrating the history of Black Lutheranism on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 3:00 p.m. in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on the Seminary campus. The service, “There Is a Balm in Gilead,” is part of a series of events honoring Black History Month at the Seminary. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Dr. Frazier Odom, interim executive director for the Board of Black Ministry Services, will lead the service, and Rev. Quentin Poulson, mission networking director of the Board, will serve as liturgist. St. Louis area Distance Education Leading To Ordination (DELTO) vicars will also serve as liturgists.

The service will include music by a mass choir assembled from St. Louis area Lutheran congregations and a children’s choir assembled from area Lutheran schools involved in black ministry.
