Belton serves as visiting faculty

We welcomed Dr. Victor Belton (’86) to campus as a visiting faculty member during the winter quarter. He is teaching Homiletics II and Learning from Jesus and also was a speaker at the Multiethnic Symposium Jan. 24-25, 2017.

“Somebody brag on God,” Belton recently encouraged students in his Homiletics II class. “I’m trying to desensitize you and get you thinking in a different way about proclaiming miracles.” In response, his students shared stories of how a recent ice storm forced one student to slow down and focus on his priorities, while another student told how the recovery of his mother’s lost earring was a reminder of God’s presence in her life.

“It’s not so small that it does not concern our Father,” Belton said. “The way that we proclaim God will impact the way they (our congregations) will live their lives.”

Belton is pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Decatur, Ga., where he will soon celebrate his 25th service anniversary.

The Seminary is honored to have many prestigious visiting faculty members share their expertise and wisdom with our students throughout the year.
