Faith and Writing Workshop to be held in July

Explore the various forms of creative writing – starting a blog, creating a sermon or devotion, story, nonfiction, drama, poetry – and everything in between at the Faith and Writing Workshop set for July 25-27 at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis [1].

The workshop will focus on what it means to create and communicate as a person of faith. Participants will discuss what makes effective communication and ways to cultivate creativity. The manner in which a person’s faith affects the creative process also will be explored. Time also will be devoted to social media and new forms of expression. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring their own work, as well as favorite works by others.

The workshop will be led by Rev. Travis Scholl, managing editor of Concordia Journal, and Peter Mead, a Christian editor, publisher and writer.

“Peter and I have seen a growing number of church workers and lay people take part in the workshop as a way to inject new life and creativity into all the ways they work with words,” Scholl said. “The results are consistently amazing, to see the creativity flow from people who didn’t believe they had it in them.”

The cost of the workshop is $175 per person with a maximum of 15 participants. On campus housing is available. Meals are not included. The registration deadline is July 17.
