Fall Lay Bible Institute begins Oct. 3

“The Bible, Theology and Christ—Figures in Film” [1] is the focus of Concordia Seminary’s Fall Lay Bible Institute lecture series beginning Oct. 3 and continuing for three additional Wednesday evenings in October.

Rev. David Lewis  [2] will lead the four-part workshop, which will explore the various ways American cinema has appropriated the biblical narrative, Christian theology and the story of Jesus to tell its own stories. Participants will examine how films may reflect the worldview of their makers, American society at large and those who watch them. Christians will be asked how they should approach and interpret such films so they might help them confess the Gospel more clearly.

The lectures are scheduled for Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24. Each lecture runs from 7-9 p.m. in Sieck Hall 202 on campus, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105.

The registration deadline is Sept. 24. Cost is $30 per person.
