Concordia Seminary finishes first-ever #GiveSTLDay strong

In a campaign that culminated yesterday, 73 friends of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis rallied together to raise $20,957 for Give STL Day [1], surpassing the campaign goal of $20,000. A local benefactor provided a matching gift that doubled donations dollar for dollar up to the first $10,000.

Most donors gave via the Give STL Day site [2], while others chose to give via the Seminary’s website [3]. All of these funds will be used to ensure the Seminary has the resources needed to prepare future pastors, deaconesses, missionaries and church leaders to serve in congregations and ministries worldwide.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank our friends and supporters for being involved in Give STL Day,” said Vicki Biggs, senior vice president of Seminary Advancement and chief communications officer. “Your support during these most unprecedented times means the world to us and serves to ensure that the Seminary’s eternal life-saving mission of preparing our church’s future leaders will continue for generations to come. Thank you again for joining together ‘to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ’ (Eph. 4:12 ESV).”

Give STL Day is an online giving event organized by the St. Louis Community Foundation for the benefit of nonprofits headquartered in the metropolitan area. Now in its seventh year, Give STL Day raised $4,505,013 to support 977 local nonprofits. This year was the first year the Seminary has participated in the event.

“We were thrilled to be a part of this special day that blesses the Seminary community as well as our St. Louis neighbors,” added Megan Duncan, manager of annual giving and Give STL Day campaign manager. “We are very grateful for our generous supporters.”
