Participating faculty, staff and students — many of whom have been growing their hair and beards for months — will shave their heads on that date and encourage friends and family to make a donation for childhood cancer research.
This year’s goal is to raise $6,000. Those wanting to contribute to the cause can visit the Seminary’s St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraising page [2].
“We all like to imagine a day when we will be past the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Rev. Bill Wrede, director of Ministerial Admissions and site coordinator for the event. “Imagine a day when no child would have to suffer from cancer! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation does a tremendous job funding research to find cures. We are thrilled to do what we can to champion the efforts.”
Since partnering with St. Baldrick’s in 2012, Concordia Seminary has raised $84,317 for the foundation, thanks to 187 volunteers who agreed to go bald in support of this worthwhile cause.
