Seminary hosts 10th St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving fundraiser

For the 10th time, the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis community is being asked to shave their heads during the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation [1] head-shaving fundraiser. This year’s event, which is being held virtually because of the coronavirus, is set for Feb. 11.

Participating faculty, staff and students — many of whom have been growing their hair and beards for months — will shave their heads on that date and encourage friends and family to make a donation for childhood cancer research.

This year’s goal is to raise $6,000. Those wanting to contribute to the cause can visit the Seminary’s St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraising page [2].

“We all like to imagine a day when we will be past the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Rev. Bill Wrede, director of Ministerial Admissions and site coordinator for the event. “Imagine a day when no child would have to suffer from cancer! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation does a tremendous job funding research to find cures. We are thrilled to do what we can to champion the efforts.”

Since partnering with St. Baldrick’s in 2012, Concordia Seminary has raised $84,317 for the foundation, thanks to 187 volunteers who agreed to go bald in support of this worthwhile cause.

For more information about this event and to donate, visit the Seminary’s fundraising page [2] or contact Wrede at 314-505-7221 or [email protected] [3].
