DESCRIPTION:Reaching Out to Our Neighbors with the Gospel of Hope: Engaging and Learning from Our Global South Partners\nChrist commissioned His apostles to be His witnesses “to the ends of the earth\,” calling them to make disciples of all nations by baptizing and teaching (Acts 1:8; Matt. 28:19–20). For centuries\, going abroad has been a central mission endeavor of the Christian church — and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) continues to faithfully participate in that global mission. However\, shifting immigration patterns have opened new doors for outreach. The U.S. itself has become a mission field\, as many immigrants arrive not only to receive the Gospel\, but also to proclaim it. These brothers and sisters from the Global South bring with them vibrant faith and a passion for sharing Christ. How\, then\, can our LCMS congregations engage in meaningful outreach alongside these mission-minded partners — reaching into the diverse neighborhoods of our own nation with the love and truth of Jesus? \n\n\n\n\nDr. Ely Prieto\nAssociate Professor of Practical Theology\, Associate Dean of Urban and Cross-Cultural Ministry\, Director of the Center for Hispanic Studies\, and Lutheran Foundation Professor of Urban and Cross-Cultural Ministry\nDr. Ely Prieto is associate professor of Practical Theology\, the Lutheran Foundation Professor of Urban and Cross-Cultural Ministry\, associate dean for Urban and Cross-Cultural Ministry\, and director of the Center for Hispanic Studies at Concordia\, Seminary\, St. Louis. A faculty member since 2021\, Dr. Prieto has an extensive academic background teaching in the areas of homilitics\, pastoral theology\, church planning and administration. DESCRIPTION:Concordia University System (CUS) Award\nConcordia Seminary\, St. Louis’ CUS Awards provide financial aid opportunity for incoming students who graduate from the colleges and universities of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (CUS) and who have applied to a program in Ministerial Formation at Concordia Seminary.  This includes students enrolling in the Master of Divinity\, Residential Alternate Route\, or Master of Arts in Deaconess Studies programs. \nAwards are granted for the student’s first year at Concordia Seminary and are nonrenewable. \n\nApplicant must be a CUS student who has applied to a program in Ministerial Formation.\nApplicant must have graduated with a bachelor’s degree from a CUS school.\nThe applicant will have studied at a CUS school for a minimum of four semesters before graduating.\nApplicant must receive his or her bachelor’s degree from a CUS school\, but not necessarily in the pre-seminary program.\n\nOnce the student applies to the Seminary\, he or she will automatically be considered for the awards; all information for award consideration will come from the student’s applicant file. There is no separate application to complete. Students must submit their application to Concordia Seminary before Nov. I of the year prior to enrollment.

DESCRIPTION:Regent Awards\nConcordia Seminary\, St. Louis’ Regent Awards consist of four separate grants available to students who demonstrate great potential.  These grants cover 100% of tuition\, including two grants with a stipend for living expenses. \nRegent grants will be awarded by the Seminary’s scholarship committee and will be automatically renewed for consecutive years until program completion.  Members of each incoming class in the Master of Divinity and Residential Alternate Route programs may be eligible for the following awards. \nThe Martin Scharlemann and Robert Kolb Grants \nTwo grants will be awarded that include full tuition along with a cash stipend of $4\,500\, paid monthly throughout the academic year.  Stipends are limited to 3 residential years and will not be paid during vicarage.
