SUMMARY:500th Anniversary Lecture: Martin Luther’s New Testament Translation
DESCRIPTION:In 11 weeks’ time\, Martin Luther managed to produce a translation of the New Testament that forever changed the shape of the German language and influenced the earliest Protestant English Bibles. But Luther’s translation was first and foremost an expression of his understanding of God’s Word as a “living voice” that brings life to those who hear it. \nNow\, 500 years after Luther first translated the New Testament\, millions of people still don’t have the Bible in their own language. Come and delve into a discussion about the ways Luther’s vision to place God’s Word into every language is being fulfilled across the globe during the “500th Anniversary Lecture: Martin Luther’s New Testament Translation” co-sponsored by Concordia Seminary and Lutheran Bible Translators. \nHeld at 7 p.m. CT Thursday\, Oct. 13\, in Werner Auditorium on campus\, this special lecture will feature two esteemed New Testament scholars: Dr. Jeff Kloha\, chief curatorial officer at the Museum of the Bible in Washington\, D.C.\, and former Seminary provost; and Dr. Vilson Scholz\, visiting professor of Exegetical Theology at the Seminary and former translation consultant for United Bible Societies. \nThis event is free and open to the public. The lecture will be preceded by a reception at 6:15 p.m. \nBulletin Blurb

SUMMARY:Daily chapel service - stained glass dedication
DESCRIPTION:Divine Service with Dedication and Blessing of the Stained Glass Windows\nPlease join us for a special chapel service\, beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday\, Nov. 2. The chapel service will include a blessing of the new stained glass windows in chapel and distribution of Holy Communion. Professor of Practical Theology Dr. David Schmitt\, a member of the stained glass committee that oversaw the design and installation of the windows\, will preach and the Seminary’s premier choir\, Laudamus\, will sing. \nThanks to a generous gift from the Eugene E. and Nell S. Fincke Memorial Trust\, stained glass windows were installed throughout the entirety of the chapel — chancel\, transept\, nave and narthex — between 2020 and 2022. The installation of the windows use the Te Deum Laudamus (We Praise You\, O God)\, a historic text of praise to God\, as a thematic touchpoint and depict the Crucifixion\, Resurrection and Exaltation of Jesus Christ. Lynchburg Stained Glass of Lynchburg\, Va.\, with senior artist Rich Buswell in charge of the design\, installed the windows. Learn more about the chapel stained glass windows. \nThe public is invited to attend in-person or watch via live stream. \nChapel Livestream Service Folder
