Prof Insights: Faculty-Led Workshop – Professor Meyer in West Bend, WI
Strength for Today and Bright Hope for Tomorrow
Traditional and true Lutheran emphases get a fresh look for congregational ministry in today’s changed and challenging culture. Topics from 1 Peter include unmasking the influences of public culture upon church life, faith and good works, truth and emotions, the fear of God, and does “forgiveness” communicate?
President Emeritus, Concordia Seminary St. Louis
Dr. Dale A. Meyer is perhaps best known as the former Speaker of The Lutheran Hour and emeritus president of Concordia Seminary. He has acquired a reputation as one of the best preachers and teachers within The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. He may be less known for his work as a researcher and scholar of the New Testament, yet he is eminently qualified having received his Ph.D. in classics from Washington University and through his research over the past decade in preparation for writing the commentary on 1 Peter as part of the Concordia Commentary Series from Concordia Publishing House. This workshop will bring together his research and his engagement with the political culture as a result of the various positions in which he has served.
