Tomorrow, exactly two weeks after the insurrection, I’ll watch again, again with the same hope, that calm will come upon us. What will President Biden say? As much as I will listen to him, I’ll hear the echoes of another president." Read more of today's #MeyerMinute on Facebook @concordiasem.
Has someone encouraged you to become a pastor or d Has someone encouraged you to become a pastor or deaconess? Rev. Will Hanke — one of our Student Recruitment Ambassadors (SRAs) — shares some advice for you as people encourage you to consider the path to Seminary!

“Listen to those who are encouraging you to come to Seminary and ask them questions. Ask them why they think you should be a pastor, what qualities do they see, etc.”

"O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me."

(Psalm 139:1-10 ESV)
#MeyerMinute for Jan. 15: My quiet place… My q #MeyerMinute for Jan. 15:

My quiet place…

My quiet place is where I retreat when I need to be reminded that God continues to be for me. “When I thought, ‘My foot slips,’ your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up” (Psalm 94:18).

My quiet place is where I listen for Your still, small voice amidst life’s unending noise. “Understand, O dullest of the people! Fools, when will you be wise? He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see? He who disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke? He who teaches man knowledge — the Lord — knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath” (Psalm 94:8-11).

My quiet place is where I do not ignore the news of the nation or troubles in my little life. Quite the opposite! Without the bad, would I mature in my love for Your salvation? “Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law, to give him rest from the days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked” (Psalm 94:12-13).

My quiet place is where You touch my troubled heart and soul. “For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage; for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it. Who rises up for me against the wicked? Who stands up for me against evildoers?” (Psalm 94:14-16). In my quiet place You revive hope by turning me from myself to You. You give me confidence You continue with us and Your righteousness will prevail.

My quiet place is stillness before You. It’s not a favorite chair, or church. It’s not the calm of a peaceful scene or soothing music. It’s me before You and Your Spirit within me, wherever I may be. “When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul” (Psalm 94:19).
