Seminary honors ordination, commissioning milestones

Ordination and commissioning anniversaries of 10 faculty, six emeriti faculty and three staff were recognized during today’s service in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. The honorees represent 695 years of collective service to the church.

“Brothers, the great Day is coming that will fill your hearts with joy,” said Seminary President Dr. Thomas J. Egger [1]. “In the light of that Day, you will look back over your life, so grateful that the Lord has given you to be ministers of the Gospel, ambassadors of Christ, shepherds of Christ’s dear flock. And as we mark this significant milestone since your ordination or commissioning, be sure of this: that Day is closer now than on the day when the church set you aside for service. As Paul says in Romans 13: ‘Salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.’”

A reception in Koburg Hall following the chapel service offered additional time for sharing gratitude and celebrating the honorees individually for their decades of faithful ministry.
