Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree is a professional doctoral degree intended to equip men in the parish ministry for a higher level of competence in the practice of pastoral ministry. The program leading to the degree promotes professional growth and vocational renewal.

Concordia Seminary seeks to serve pastors by providing the theological foundation and the practical skills that serve faithfulness and excellence in pastoral ministry. The distinctive characteristics of Concordia’s D.Min. program include:

  • Lutheran Theology and Practice – Students grow deep in the study of theology that is thoroughly biblical and Lutheran, and gain insights into applying that theology with skills for serving God’s people.
  • Convenient Curriculum – Pastors work toward the D.Min. degree while serving their respective parishes (in-service). They complete reading and writing assignments before and after two-week intensives.
  • Collegiality – Students build fraternal bonds with each other. A high level of mutual respect and appreciation is shared between the instructors and the student-pastors.
  • Affordability – The degree program is financially feasible for most pastors and compares favorably with other doctoral programs.
