Rev. Dr. Francis C. Rossow

Professor Emeritus of Practical Theology

Dr. Francis C. Rossow is a professor emeritus of Practical Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

He retired in 1997 after 21 years of distinguished service as professor of Practical Theology. He also served the Seminary as the director of worship (1976-77).

He was ordained in 1948 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wildrose, N.D. He received his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Concordia Seminary (1948); his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Concordia College in Fort Wayne, Ind. (1944); and his Master of Arts (M.A.) from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. (1959). He also holds an honorary Doctor of Letters (Litt.D.) from Christ College in Irvine, Calif. (1989).

Before joining the Seminary in 1976, Rossow served as pastor at the Crosby-Fortuna-Wildrose parishes in North Dakota (1948-49) and as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Mich. (1949-59). He also served as a professor of English (1959-76); resident counselor (1961-75); and acting dean (1975-76) of Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne.
