Description

It’s Greek to Me! A Greek Immersion Workshop

This workshop is designed to increase fluency in reading the New Testament in Greek by giving students experience listening to and speaking Koine Greek. It is similar to an “immersion experience” in modern languages. The course assumes that the students have learned Koine Greek at some point, but their Greek may be rusty. The workshop also is appropriate for those whose Greek is in good shape but who want to get even better at it.

Dr. David Maxwell

Professor of Systematic Theology, Chairman of the Department of Systematic Theology, and Louis A. Fincke and Anna B. Shine Professor of Systematic Theology

Dr. David R. Maxwell is the Louis A. Fincke and Anna B. Shine Professor of Systematic Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. His primary research interest is the early church, particularly the Christological controversies of the fourth through sixth centuries. He also works in the field of patristic exegesis and recently produced a translation of “Cyril of Alexandria’s Commentary on John” (InterVarsity Press), as well as “Cyril of Alexandria’s Commentaries on Romans, 1-2 Corinthians and Hebrews” (InterVarsity Press). He has delivered a number of presentations on Lutheran identity, both in the United States and in Indonesia. Additionally, he has written on the theological symbolism in the organ music of J.S. Bach and has produced organ videos on the topic.
