Next Steps: An event for prospective students and their families

July 7-8, 2017

Next Steps is geared toward prospective students who are married and their immediate families. This two-day event provides participants an opportunity to connect with the Concordia Seminary community. From visiting the campus to experiencing life with Seminary families, participants find answers to many nagging questions about how to care for your family while attending Seminary.

Overview
Participants gain useful information about on-campus housing, financial aid, the Food Bank, the Re-Sell It Shop, and much more. Children have supervised recreation time during the informational sessions. The panel discussion features current Seminary families answering questions with honest answers from their own experiences. On Friday night, participants are invited to attend an informal BBQ in the Woods (the nickname for married student on-campus housing).

Saturday includes fun events for the whole family. A farewell brunch on campus concludes the formal events.

Friday

9 a.m. Check-in on campus
9:35 a.m. Chapel
9:55 a.m. Coffee
10:30 a.m. Campus tour
11:30 a.m. Lunch
12 p.m. Break
1 p.m. Parents — devotion & overview — Loeber II (5 yrs. & older until 4 p.m.)

Supervised recreation for older children and quiet time for younger children is provided. Loeber Hall guest rooms will be available for parents who would like to have a quiet place for naps and quiet time with their children.

1:30 p.m. Panel discussion and fellowship — Loeber II
3 p.m. Financial aid — Loeber II
3:45 p.m. Housing — Loeber II
4:30 p.m. Break and family time
5:15 p.m. BBQ in the Woods (weather permitting)
6:30 p.m. Return to hotel for the evening

Saturday
Breakfast at your hotel (please be finished with breakfast before 8:30)

8:30 a.m. Devotion — hotel
8:45 a.m. Admissions process — hotel
9:30 a.m. Depart for Saint Louis Science Center
11:30 a.m. Return to campus for brunch — Wartburg Commons
1 p.m. Closing Devotion – Chapel of St. Eunice and St. Lois

Registration and travel
There is no registration fee. Housing and meals during the event will be provided by Concordia Seminary. The Seminary will provide hotel accommodations for Thursday night (July 7) and Friday night (July 8). Additional nights are the participants own expense. Please bring a Bible. Participants are responsible for their own transportation. If arriving by air, bus, or train, please provide your full itinerary as we do provide complimentary shuttles from the airport, and bus and train terminals. The Seminary is not able to provide transportation for infants and toddlers unless the parent(s) provide and install the appropriate seat.
