Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Ind. (B.A. 1960); Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. (M.Div. 1964; S.T.M. 1967); Union Theological Seminary, New York, N.Y. (S.M.M. 1972); City University of New York, N.Y. (Ph.D. 1983). Instructor of Classical Languages and Religion (1965-68) and professor (1968-87), Concordia College, Bronxville, N.Y.; executive director of LCMS Commission on Worship (1987-92); associate professor of practical theology and dean of the chapel (1991-2009).
