Seminary Press Advent sermon series available for download

Series based around the Gospel of John

“The Word became flesh.” Those words from the first chapter of the Gospel of John are the focus of the 2017 Advent sermon series, published by Seminary Press of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

The series, entitled “The Word Became Flesh: An Advent/Christmas Sermon Series on John 1:1-18,” is written by Dr. Reed Lessing, former professor of Exegetical Theology at Concordia Seminary and senior pastor of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Ind. The sermon series includes full sermons and liturgies that can be adapted for either Wednesday or Sunday use during Advent through Christmas Eve.

“These eighteen verses contain some of the most important words written – ever,” reads the description to the sermon series. “They explode with light and brilliance, truth and grace. And John 1:1-18 is chock full of dearly loved Advent and Christmas themes.”

“Reed Lessing is a preacher’s preacher, and we couldn’t think of a better way for pastors and congregations to spend Advent than to drink deeply from the well at the beginning of John’s Gospel,” said Rev. Travis Scholl, managing editor of Seminary Publications.

The downloadable sermon series is available for $14.95 here.
