Concordia Seminary, St. Louis to Hold Epiphany Celebration

On Sunday, Jan. 9, at 3:00 p.m., Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will hold its annual Epiphany Celebration in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Participating in the celebration are the choirs of the Seminary—Concordia Seminary Chorus, Pro Musica Sacra, Concordia Brass and Handbell choirs—and the Adult and School Choirs of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Des Peres, Mo.

The first part of the Celebration will include Richard Webster’s setting of the Advent hymn, “Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending.” The Seminary Chorus will sing Franz Biebl’s setting of “Mary Was Visited” and Carolyn Jenning’s setting of the Chinese carol “Pengyou Ting!” The Epiphany Celebration will conclude with Evening Prayer with its Service of Light. A highlight of the Evening Prayer will be the Epiphany Gospel which will be chanted. The Gospel Canticle will be Harold Friedel’s “Nunc Dimittis” for choirs and orchestra. Throughout the Epiphany Celebration, there will be an emphasis on the mission of the church throughout the world.
