Concordia Seminary To Host Mission Fest 2001

Concordia Seminary Students in Mission and the Institute for Mission Studies will host Mission Fest 2001 on Jan. 5-6, 2001. The Mission Fest theme is “Light to the Nations.” The event will feature guest speakers and more than two dozen booths representing various mission organizations. Youth activities for children of all ages will be available.

Dr. Dale A. Meyer, Lutheran Hour Speaker, will deliver the keynote address at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rev. Albert L. Garcia, professor at Concordia University, Mequon, will present “His Light Shines in the Darkness: Guideposts for Global Missions” at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Other guest speakers include Rev. Carl Rockrohr, former LCMS Missionary to Ghana, West Africa; Velma Lubbert, Director of Medical Ministry of LCMS World Missions; Dr. Louis Nau, Lutheran Hour Ministries; and Rev. David Andrus, Director of Blind Ministry of LCMS World Missions. In addition, Ongoing Ambassadors for Christ will present dramas, puppet shows, songs and Bible studies. These main sessions are free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Rev. John Nunes, senior pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dallas, Tex., will present the third annual Mission Fest Seminar on Christian Witness from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday in the Presidents Room in Pritzlaff Hall. Registration for this seminar is $7.50 and covers the cost of the noon meal. Pre-registration information may be obtained from the Institute for Mission Studies.
