Seminary Offers Additional Married Student Housing

Beginning this fall, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will offer additional housing to married students at Villages of Wyncrest apartment complex in nearby University City, Mo. An arrangement provides special rental rates for members of the Seminary community and designates 40 apartments for occupancy by Seminary students and their families. Less than five miles from campus, the apartments will be offered to married couples with up to one child at the same cost as on-campus married student housing. Amenities on the 55-acre Villages of Wyncrest grounds include laundry facilities, an outdoor pool, two fitness centers and a meeting room with kitchen facilities.

“We are delighted to offer this special arrangement for members of our Seminary community,” commented Rev. Larry Rockemann, vice president for student life at Concordia Seminary. “With the increased enrollment we are experiencing, the addition of 40 desirable apartments is greatly appreciated. The lowered rental costs, amenities offered and close proximity to the Seminary campus make this a wonderful opportunity.”

Concordia Seminary also has 105 apartment units on campus for its married students. The majority of these apartment units exist in “Concordia Woods,” located on 13 acres of the Seminary’s 72-acre campus. Dedicated in October, 1996, “Concordia Woods” consists of 79 apartments in 21 separate buildings. The apartments are energy-efficient and are available in conventional and townhouse configurations. Since 65% of Concordia Seminary students are married and each married couple averages more than one child each, a demand exists for attractive, affordable housing.
