Redeker Announces Acceptance of Call

Rev. Michael J. Redeker, director of ministerial recruitment at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, has accepted the divine call issued him to serve as pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lexington, Ky. Redeker joined the Seminary staff in 1998 as an admission counselor and has served as the Seminary’s director of ministerial recruitment since 2003.

“We are very grateful for Rev. Redeker’s enthusiastic and distinguished service in the Seminary’s admissions office,” commented Rev. Glen D. Thomas, vice president for seminary relations at Concordia Seminary. “His love for parish ministry was evident to prospective students he met over the past six years and this same love for parish ministry is very apparent as he accepts the Lord’s call to serve as pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church.”

Redeker received the B.A. degree in 1985 from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and the M.Div. degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1995. Prior to joining the Seminary staff, Redeker served as pastor of St. Paul and Zion Lutheran Churches in Bowler and Eland, Wis. (1995-1998). He also has served as editor of the North Wisconsin District Lutheran Witness supplement (1997-1998) and as president of the Lutheran Admission Counselors of Missouri Synod since 2002.

Redeker and his wife, Mary, have seven children: Bridget, Aaron, Maxwell, Samuel, Victoria, Gemma and Sean. He will continue his duties at Concordia Seminary through the end of December.
