Seminary Announces Bach at the Sem Tsunami Relief Concert

Concordia Seminary is pleased to invite the public to a special Bach at the Sem sacred concert offered to benefit victims of the recent tsunami floods in Asia. The American Kantorei, under the direction of Robert Bergt, will offer Beethoven’s “Mass in C” on Monday, Feb. 7, at 8:00 p.m. in Concordia Seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. There is no admission charge and no tickets are issued.

In offering this opportunity, Concordia Seminary wishes to express its gratitude to:

  • Robert Bergt, director of the American Kantorei, for his initial suggestion of this sacred concert and his subsequent leadership in arranging it;
  • All singers and instrumentalists who, in cooperation with the Musician’s Association of St. Louis, are donating their time and talent; and
  • Midtown Printing and Adsell Companies for providing the printed program and offering envelopes free of charge.

Due to the generosity of those previously listed, all money offered at the sacred concert will be utilized to assist tsunami flood victims.

Remaining Sunday afternoon sacred concerts in the 2004-05 Bach at the Sem season include a March 6 presentation of Bach’s Motet III and three large-scale works for organ featuring Dennis Bergin, and an April 24 presentation of one of J.S. Bach’s Ascension cantatas.
