Concordia Seminary Chorus Announces Spring Tour

The Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Chorus, under the direction of Rev. Henry V. Gerike, will visit Lutheran churches in Missouri, Californiaand Nevada on its 2005 Spring Tour. The Chorus will provide evening sacred concerts which will include prayer, Scripture reading and congregational singing. In two congregations, the Chorus will offer vocal selections during Sunday morning worship services.

“This will be the first time that the Seminary Chorus will spend such a concentrated time in one geographic region, that of northern California,” commented Gerike. “We look forward to worshiping with other Lutherans in that area as we present Evening Prayer for the time of Lent.”

Over the past 17 years, the Chorus has traveled in 35 states (including Alaska) and in Canada on its tours. Tours usually span a weekend in Advent and nearly two weeks in the spring. The Seminary Chorus plans to tour Germany in May 2005 and will perform sacred concerts in sister congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

Over the past 13 years, the Chorus has released nine recordings in CD and cassette formats. The most recent recording, released in fall 2004, is “Gentle Stranger,” featuring music for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. Chorus recordings will be available for purchase following the concerts.
