Bode Accepts Call to Concordia Seminary

Dr. Gerhard H. Bode has accepted the call extended him by Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, to serve as assistant professor in historical theology. Previously, Bode served as assistant pastor of Salem Lutheran Church, Affton, Mo. He has also served as guest instructor, guest lecturer and graduate teaching assistant at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

Bode received a B.A. from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn., in 1990, an M.A. from Washington University, St. Louis, in 1998, and M.Div., S.T.M., and Ph.D. degrees from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1995, 1998 and 2005, respectively. He and his wife, Rachel, have three children.

Bode commented, “I am pleased to be teaching at Concordia Seminary and to serve our Lord and His church in this place. It is an honor to be able to work with such wonderful faculty, staff and students. Great things are happening here as God prepares pastors, missionaries, deaconesses and teachers for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our world.”

The addition of Bode brings the number of full-time faculty members at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis to 45. The Seminary has experienced an enrollment increase of 52 percent over the past five years, surpassing 800 students during each of the past two academic years. While some of this increase is due to the addition of new distance education programs, the residential population of students has also increased 32 percent over the past five years. This enrollment surge has necessitated the calling of additional faculty.
