Concordia Seminary Announces Convocations on New Hymnal

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, is pleased to announce four upcoming convocations regarding The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s (LCMS) new hymnal, Lutheran Service Book. Rev. Dr. Paul Grime, executive director for the LCMS Commission on Worship, and Rev. Jon Vieker, assistant director for the Commission, will offer presentations in the Seminary’s Clara and Spencer Werner Auditorium on Wednesday mornings, Jan. 25, March 15, and April 12 and 19 at 10:40 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

The convocations will explore new hymns, pastoral care resources found in the LSB Agenda and LSB Pastoral Care Companion, and the electronic edition of the Lutheran Service Book. Additionally, presenters will offer practical advice on how to introduce new elements of the hymnal to congregations.

The 2004 LCMS Convention passed a resolution approving the publication of the Lutheran Service Book, with nearly 89 percent of the vote in favor of publication. Included in that resolution was the encouragement that all congregations in the Synod participate in the introductory process of LSB.

“Concordia Seminary is pleased to host these presentations which will not only provide valuable information for our students, but willalso serve the church at large in gaining familiarity with this new resource,” commented Rev. Glen Thomas, vice president for seminary relations at Concordia Seminary.
