LutherHostel 2006 Is Success

An enthusiastic group of 28 adults, age 55 and above, participated in LutherHostel 2006, held Oct. 7-10 on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Dr. Richard Bimler, former president of Wheat Ridge Ministries, was the main presenter for the event. Participants experienced Seminary class instruction and attended presentations by Seminary faculty and local experts on the theme “Living Well in Christ.”

One participant commented, “The variety of presentations provided something for everyone.” Another said, “It has been a great pleasure and blessing to be a part of this group.”

Dr. Donald Miesner and his wife, Wilma, were the host couple for the event. In addition, Bible studies were led by Seminary professors Thomas Egger and David Lewis.

Scheduled activities for LutherHostel 2006 began on Saturday evening with an Oktoberfest dinner. Additional activities included class visitation, student-led evening devotions, and visits to Concordia Historical Institute, KFUO Lutheran radio station and the Seminary bookstore. Tours of various Lutheran sites (International Center, Lutheran Hour Ministries) or St. Louis sites (Cathedral Basilica, Forest Park) also were offered. An optional tour of the Lutheran historical sites in Perry County, Mo., took place on Oct. 11, immediately following LutherHostel.

Dr. Paul L. Maier, noted Lutheran scholar and author, will be the main presenter for LutherHostel 2007, which will take place Oct. 6-9.
