Concordia Seminary Receives Telly Award

Concordia Seminary was selected to receive a Bronze Telly Award in the non-broadcast fundraising category of the 29th Annual Telly Awards. The award was given for “Servants for Jesus’ Sake,” a short video produced by the Seminary to solicit financial support in the fall of 2007.

“The idea to tell the Seminary’s story in video as part of our annual effort to solicit financial support came from President Dale A. Meyer, who is passionate about expanding the use of multi-media technology in all aspects of the Seminary’s work,” commented Mark Hofman, vice president of Seminary Advancement. “The Seminary was able to produce this video on its own, using the technology and expertise of the Seminary’s Educational Technology staff, at an unbelievably low cost. As the person responsible for managing our cost to raise funds, it is a blessing to have this capability in-house.”

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards honor the best local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web. Since 1978, the mission of the Telly Wards has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting and supporting creativity. Today, the Telly is one of the most sought-after awards by industry leaders, from large international firms to local production companies and ad agencies. The Telly is the largest and most prestigious award of its kind, receiving entries from all 50 states and 30 countries around the world.

“The Telly Award is as much a statement about the quality of the faculty and staff of the Seminary as it is about the specific medium used,” commented Hofman. “The fact that those who viewed it responded generously makes the honor of a Telly all the more amazing.”
