Loum receives honor

Congratulations to Dr. John Loum, director of the Seminary’s Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology (EIIT) program, for receiving the Wakili Award Oct. 15 from Vitendo 4 Africa for community advocacy.

The plaque reads: “In appreciation for your compassionate and exceptional care to the immigrant community in St. Louis.” Vitendo 4 Africa is a nonprofit African organization based in Hazelwood, Mo., that works to empower communities through educational and outreach programs in Missouri and in Africa.

Vitendo is a Swahili word that means action. Vitendo 4 Africa provides a forum for discussion of common issues, aspirations and solutions for the advancement of individuals and groups from African immigrant community in Missouri. It also focus on youth, education, sports, respect, godliness and manners development. Congratulations, Dr. Loum!
