Friends, alumni, faculty and staff raised a record $106,468 for Concordia Seminary, St. Louis’ Give Green and Gold Day Sept. 25, surpassing the $100,000 giving goal and exceeding the total amount raised in the Seminary’s five-year history of annual Give Green and Gold Day campaigns. Gifts raised from the campaign’s 370 donors will be used where needed most as the Seminary carries out its mission to prepare the church’s future pastors, deaconesses, missionaries and other church leaders.

“Thank you — two little words but the emotion behind them is huge. We are deeply grateful to each and every friend who contributed to this special campaign,” said Vicki Biggs, senior vice president of Seminary Advancement and chief communications officer. “Our donors continue to encourage us and inspire us with their generosity and their faithfulness as they support the mission of Concordia Seminary by helping our students today and those who are to come. Thank you, thank you for helping to make our mission possible!”

Because of a special matching opportunity, donors doubled their gifts dollar for dollar up to the first $50,000 raised. Early giving began the first week of September.

Seminary friends were invited to encourage others in their support for Give Green and Gold Day by spreading the word on social media using the hashtag #GiveGreenandGold, by sharing the giving page or by calling 800-822-5287 to make a gift.

“Give Green and Gold Day brings all of us together — donors, friends, faculty, staff, alumni — in support of our mission!” said Kathy Luther, executive director of Seminary Support. “We are very grateful that this year’s event was such a success.”

While the campaign has ended, interested donors can still give to the Seminary. Give Green and Gold Day is one of three annual giving days at the Seminary. The next day of giving is Giving Tuesday, set for Nov. 28. Learn more at csl.edu/giving-days.
