Dear alumni

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

The end of the school year brings with it certain joys and celebrations. We anticipate the beginning of first calls, vicarages, internships or maybe just vacation (or a lighter schedule). We rejoice in sunshine and warmth. For all of this, we rightfully thank and praise God for His goodness and faithfulness.

I ask each of you to join me in thanksgiving for Concordia Seminary and all who serve here. God has provided the church with thousands of pastors, deaconesses, missionaries and other servants through their work. Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to equip men and women to serve congregations and communities around the world with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And I thank God for you. Your time here at the Seminary equipped you for a life of service. I pray you look back on your time here with gratitude and fondness for the relationships you formed and for the people you now serve alongside in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Your prayers, your words of encouragement and your work for the Gospel fill us with thanksgiving.

St. Paul concludes his great chapter on the resurrection of Jesus with these words: “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain” (1 Cor. 15:57–58 ESV). May the joy of the resurrection continue to fill your heart, and may we all rejoice that God has allowed us a share in the ministry of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all may hear and believe this Good News.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus.

In Christ’s love,

Thomas J. Egger
