Seminary raises $41,040 for Give STL Day

Local online event inspires supporters to give

Give STL Day Thank You

In a special campaign that culminated May 8, local and nationwide supporters of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis stepped up once again to advance the Seminary’s vital mission through Give STL Day, an online annually recurring giving event organized by the St. Louis Community Foundation for the benefit of St. Louis-based nonprofits.

Some 117 donors made gifts totaling $41,040. All gifts given will be used where needed most in support of the Seminary’s mission to prepare the church’s future pastors, missionaries and deaconesses. A matching opportunity was available, doubling the impact of each unrestricted gift up to the first $30,000 raised.

“We give thanks for each and every person who supports Concordia Seminary,” said Vicki Biggs, senior vice president of Seminary Advancement and chief communications officer. “Our friends and supporters are essential partners in making our mission possible, and we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love for our students demonstrated through such acts as contributing to this special campaign and in so many other vital ways.”

Early giving began April 23 at the Give STL Day site, by phone and on the Seminary’s website.

Funds raised will help the Seminary further its mission of preparing pastors, deaconesses, missionaries and other church leaders for service in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod across the country and around the world.

“Thank you to all of our dedicated donors – you are a blessing to Concordia Seminary and our seminarians,” said Karla Meyer, director of annual giving and the Seminary’s Give STL Day campaign manager. “We are humbled by your faithful support!”
