Registration now open for 2026 Faith and Writing Workshop
Workshop explores forms of creative writing
Registration is now open for the annual Faith and Writing Workshop set for July 28–30, 2026, on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. This recurring event explores how to create and communicate as persons of faith.
Dr. Travis Scholl, author of “Walking the Labyrinth” and director of mission integration at Evertrue in St. Louis, and Peter Mead, a Christian editor, publisher and writer, will co-lead the workshop. New this year is a session on podcasting led by Jessica Bordeleau, coordinator of digital publishing at the Seminary.
Designed to strengthen effective communication and writing skills, the workshop also equips participants to share their faith more clearly in ministry, teaching and everyday life. Writers of all abilities, including pastors, church workers and laypeople, are invited to explore various forms of creative writing, from blogs, podcasts, sermons, devotions and poetry to other forms of creative writing.
Participants will have the opportunity to refine their craft and discover meaningful ways to share their stories, especially within the sphere of social media and other new forms of expression. “We are thrilled to bring back Dr. Travis Scholl and Peter Mead to encourage and support writing in our church body,” said Erika Petsch, director of Continuing Education. “This year, we also are excited to feature our own Jessica Bordeleau as she informs participants about all things related to podcasts.”
The registration deadline is July 13. The fee for the workshop is $190 per person and $95 for Seminary students. The maximum number of participants is 18. Meals are not included but may be paid for in advance.
