For College Students/Second-Career Men and Women

Register for Contemplate at Concordia Seminary
Oct. 1-3, 2020

Due to concerns about the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, this event will be held online.

Contemplate is an event for college-age or older potential students. It provides an opportunity to learn more about life in the Concordia Seminary community and the preparation that leads to service as a pastor, missionary, chaplain or deaconess in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Contemplate encompasses time focused on discerning a vocation, attending classes and interacting with current students. A campus tour takes place on Thursday afternoon followed by a welcome reception and dinner with current students and student leadership. Participants are paired with a student mentor who can discuss and answer questions from a student’s perspective. Sessions designed to give an overview of the formation for ministry take place after dinner.

Friday morning offers an opportunity to attend a Seminary class. Additional sessions on Friday focus on the spiritual and personal aspects of the decision-making process, as well as presentations on the academic program, Resident Field Education, vicarage or internship year, financial aid and housing. Further dialogue with students takes place later that evening during the student panel discussion.

The event concludes on Saturday morning with presentations on the admissions process, a tour of St. Louis sites, time to schedule individual appointments with admissions counselors and brunch.

Registration and Travel

There is no registration fee. Housing and all meals during the event are provided at no cost to participants. Participants are responsible for their own transportation. If arriving by air, bus or train, please provide your full itinerary as the Seminary offers complimentary shuttles from the airport or bus and train terminals.
